Point is a 5 star luxury resort, which can best be described as superb.
Voted in 1999 by Travel and Leisure readers as one of the Top 25 hotels
in Australasia and the South West Pacific, and 8th best in Asia/Pacific
by Conde Nat Traveler, it's the epitome of quality. Even its wine list
has won a coveted Wine Spectator award. The Birches restaurant offers
gourmet international cuisine in a delightful old world environment.
Nugget Point is
in an idyllic location on a hillside between the Shotover River and
the magnificent Coronet Peak, just 10 minutes from the city centre by
car or the complimentary shuttle which runs 12 hours a day, from 8am.
There is also a shuttle service to the airport, about 20 minutes away.
Coronet Peak is a 10 minute drive on a sealed road.
The
resort has 27 double apartments with a bedroom and separate lounge area,
11 with river views and the rest overlooking the garden. They are available
with king, queen or twin beds and all have kitchenettes. 6 family apartments
have 2 bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, 1 with bath, the other with
shower. These have a queen bed in 1 bedroom, 4 single bunks in the other,
and full kitchens. 2 executive suites have 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms,
1ensuite and 1 with a spa. These come with queen and king or queen and
twin beds. The master bedroom and lounge have private balconies overlooking
the Shotover River in the family and executive apartments.
Nugget
Point recreation facilities are open 24 hours and include an indoor/outdoor
heated swimming pool, 2 spa pools, sauna, gymnasium, 2 floodlit tennis
courts and 2 squash courts. The resort offers an extraordinary range
of guest services and facilities, from 24-hour babysitting to a helipad.
The decor in its public areas resembles a traditional country house
while its rooms are tastefully modern.
