Glacier Experience - Half Day

A fantastic introduction to an enthralling world of ice traversing! The spectacular tracks are of a moderate difficulty, and are suitable for most agile people. The walk allows you plenty of time to enjoy the impressive terrain on the lower reaches of Franz Josef Glacier on the Glacier Experience Half Day tour.

Franz Josef Glacier Guides will fit you out with boots at the office which is a 10 minute bus ride from glacier. After a short walk through regenerating rainforest, the trip continues along the glacier valley with your guide explaining the unique features of The Franz Glacier and surrounding environment.

After strapping on a set of Ice Talonz you make your way up the terminal face of the glacier, where pre-formed access ways make exploring the lower reaches of the glacier achievable.

The terrain can look daunting, but together with the Ice Talonz on your feet and a guide by your side, this allows you to go further and see more. Experience the Franz Josef Glacier for yourself on your next holiday to the Southern Alps in New Zealand.

Requirements: You will need non-restrictive clothing on the lower body e.g. quick drying trousers, leggings, very warm clothing for the upper body (2-4 layers), food and drink for the day, sunglasses, sunscreen and camera
