Mangapapa Lodge is a grand country manor hotel which was the former home of the prominent Wattie family, best known for its frozen foods. Set in 6 hectares of mature orchards, the 5 star lodge has been restored and converted to provide 9 luxurious air-conditioned suites and rooms, each individually decorated in classic European style. Ensuite bathrooms feature under floor heating and heated towel rails. 5 have a bidet and 2 a bath as well as a shower. The 6 suites have a separate lounge.

Dinner at Mangapapa Lodge is a silver service 5-course experience, served at individual tables in the formal dining room. Aperitifs and a choice of fine regional wines are included. The surrounding Hawkes Bay area has more than 30 wineries and is famous for its excellent reds and chardonnays. The cuisine is European with vegetarian choices. Breakfast is a cosy, casual affair. Guests can sit in the spacious kitchen and watch the chef at work or choose a spot on the terraces beside the outdoor swimming pool. Guests are welcome in the kitchen for a cup of coffee or a snack when it is not busy. There is a guest lounge and bar.
