Picturesque lakeDaily, year round. All Hollyford Track guided walks begin with an overnight stay at the Luxmore Lodge Te Anau the night before Day 1 with a mandatory briefing at 7.00pm, followed by dinner (included), overnight accommodation (included) and early breakfast on Day 1 (included).

Three Day Fly Out Tour, 3 days/3 nights; Four Day Fly Out Tour and Four Day Walk Out Tour, 4 days/4 nights. All include pre-tour night at Te Anau Luxmore Lodge.

Highlights

ForestThe Hollyford Track follows the course of the Hollyford River in the Hollyford Valley within the World Heritage listed Fiordland National Park. The variety of the terrain and is scenic beauty is legendary. The experience includes the best low altitude wilderness walks in New Zealand separated by an exhilarating jet boat ride down a section of the Hollyford River and most of the length of Lake McKerrow to historic Jamestown, and ending with a short walk to the Long Reef fur seal colony and a jet boat ride back to Martins Bay Lodge.

Clients who choose the Three or Four Day Fly Out Tour enjoy a scenic flight over part of the track they have walked, out to the Tasman Sea and up over the magnificent Milford Sound to its headwaters at the village of Milford. There they transfer to a cruise vessel for a circuit cruise of the sound before boarding their coach to return to Te Anau.

Four Day Walk Out clients return by jet boat to the junction of the Pyke and Hollyford Rivers and walk out to meet their coach to Te Anau.

Inclusions

Shared lodge accommodation with shared facilities. Sheets duvets and towels provided. All meals, including lunch on route. Jet boat trip(s) on Lake McKerrow, Milford Sound scenic flight and cruise for Fly Out clients. Coach transfer to Te Anau at end of all tours. Backpacks and rain capes provided for clients who do not have their own.

Description

MountainsPre-tour, check in at Luxmore Lodge at any time the day before Day 1 in time for a 7.00pm briefing. Guides will explain the walk and provide raincapes and back packs if required. Enjoy dinner and have an early night.

Day 1: Depart early morning by coach and travel north through the majestic Eglington Valley, calling at Gunns Camp Museum on the way to the start of the Track in the Hollyford Valley. Retrace the footsteps of early explorers along the Hollyford River to Pyke River Lodge. You guides will explain the history and the wildlife as you walk on a gently undulating track through native beech forest. Dinner, bed and breakfast at the lodge.

Day 2: Begin the day with a short walk to Lake Alabaster and across the Fiordland's longest swing bridge. Board your jet boat for a thrilling ride down the Hollyford River into Lake McKerrow to historic Jamestown. Go ashore to explore ancient Podocarp forest and walk along the shore of Martins Bay to visit a fur seal colony at Long Reef where the lake empties into the sea on the wild West Coast. Return by jet boat to Martins Bay Lodge. Dinner, bed and breakfast at the lodge.

Day 3: Three Day Fly Out Tour participants board a flight seeing aircraft for a scenic flight which follows the coast south to the entrance of Milford Sound. After viewing this magnificent spectacle from the air, they land at Milford village for a circuit cruise of the sound before joining their coach for the return trip south to Te Anau.

BoatFour Day Fly Out and Walk Out Tour participants enjoy a day in and around Martins Bay Lodge. After a morning tour of the seven kilometre Martins Bay Beach, during which you will learn about its history, flora and fauna, you can simply relax at the lodge or take some of the many walks in the area. Dinner, bed and breakfast at the lodge.

Day 4: Four Day Fly Out Tour participants for their scenic flight to Milford Sound and a cruise of the sound before joining their coach to return south to Te Anau.

Four Day Walk Out Tour participants board a jet boat for an early morning ride up Lake McKerrow and the Hollyford River to where it joins the Pyke. Retrace your steps through the Hollyford Valley to meet your coach for Te Anau.

Tour participants should wear good, comfortably worn-in hiking boots. As bedding and a towel is supplied at each overnight stay, you need carry only essential personal items and clothing. A comprehensive list of gear will be provided when we confirm your booking.

The Hollyford Track is suitable for any reasonably fit person It is not recommended for children under 10.
