Just minutes from the centre of Christchurch, the Charlotte Jane is perfectly situated for guests to enjoy the city at their leisure. Sophisticated, yet homey… elegant, yet comfortable this grand Victorian house is an outstanding boutique hotel.

This magnificent residence was built in 1891, and was originally a private girl’s school, accommodating family and up to sixty students. Now, over a century after it was built, the Charlotte Jane has been magnificently restored and refurbished to provide luxury bed and breakfast accommodation.

Each room is individually decorated, with fine furnishings in keeping with the grandeur of the house. There is also a beautiful garden, blending native trees with rhododendrons and roses and fresh flowers are throughout the house.

The Charlotte Jane is for honeymooners, couples or business people with discerning tastes.

The beautifully furnished bedrooms include:

Luxury Suite Inviting and cosy, this lovely room features an ensuite bathtub big enough for two. Configured with either a king sized bed, bath & overhead shower & gas fireplace. Or two king sized single beds and shower.

Super Luxury Suite Ideal for any occasion together, this room has a sense of absolute indulgence. It includes a beautiful king sized French sleigh bed, double spa bath, overhead shower and French doors overlooking the garden.

Honeymoon Suite Here is the perfect hideaway for a very special romantic time. Its centre piece is a huge mahogany king sized four-poster bed draped in rich fabric. Also has claw foot bath and separate shower.

Rooms include Bathrobes, slippers, shoe-shine kits, toothbrushes, magazines, TVs and VCRs are available in all rooms.

There are five dining areas at The Charlotte Jane including:

• The Victorian Breakfast Room
• Garden Patio, outdoor dining by the waterfall
• Victorian Conservatory with candle-light dinners everyday.
• The State Room - a romantic private function room
• The Alexander Lawrence Restaurant: The Alexander Lawrence Restaurant has conference and corporate dining facilities as well as an intimate conservatory with seating for 28. Original architectural features - tiled fireplaces, gleaming hardwood floors and rimu interior joinery - have been faithfully restored to re-create an atmosphere of bygone elegance.

Breakfast is served whenever guests wish. Complimentary welcome drinks are available. Beverages available at no cost during reception hours. A complimentary coffee/tea bar is set up in the kitchen for those who want a night cap.
