Overlooking Lake Karapiro is Maungatautari Lodge, purpose-built in 2002, it is set in two and a half hectares (six acres) of park-like gardens on a fertile 16-hectare farm. Designed to take maximum advantage of its stunning vista, Maungatautari Lodge is furnished with carefully collected antiques and blended with fine New Zealand artworks to create a warm and tranquil environment.

The main lodge features the library with luxurious seating areas and a grand fireplace, the sitting room where guests can congregate around the fire for their complimentary pre-dinner drinks, and the intimate dining room and conservatory.

Take yourself on a journey around the lodge's magnificent park-like gardens, engage in a game of petanque with other guests, practice your golf game on our chip and putt golf hole or relax around the pool while taking in the magnificent vista.

Upstairs in the lodge are five guest suites and in the garden there are three guest villas.

The Villas are adjacent to the main lodge building. Each is individually decorated and feature amenities such as air conditioning, super-king beds, a sitting area, bar facilities, cable television, desk and working area with internet access, dressing room and ensuite bathroom with double spa. A private terrace and lawn flow to the formal gardens with uninterrupted views of Lake Karapiro.

The Lodge itself contains four Suites, each with its own private balcony overlooking Lake Karapiro. The suites are generously proportioned and are also individually decorated, incorporating all of the features one would expect, whilst enjoying stunning lake views.

Cuisine at Maungatautari Lodge is prepared from the very best of New Zealand's world famous produce. Organic beef, lamb and poultry, fish and game are complemented by fresh organic or eco-grown vegetables, many of which from the Lodge garden. The menu changes daily to provide a delicate cross section of New Zealand's finest cuisine.

Their hearty breakfasts prepare you for an active day at the lodge or abroad, and are included in your rate, as is a sumptuous four-course dinner and pre-dinner drinks.

Upon request, lunch can also be prepared for you at an additional cost, to have at the lodge or to take with you on your day's activities.
